The Dream Has Finally Come True

Christian are very relevant in Nigeria politics because Christian are the salt of the earth and the light of the world (Matt. 5:13-14).We are meant to shine forth so that the whole world will behold the glory of God. Jesus has instructed us not to hide under the bushel but to stand out and shine. But today, the reverse is the case. Christians are hiding under the bushel when it comes to polities and governance of our great nation Nigeria. Fir this reason, there is gross darkness in the world.

We have tended to develop the attitude that our only obligation is to preach the gospel and prepare men for heaven. We have forgotten that the Bible has mandated us to rule and have dominion here on earth before going to heaven. But we are staying away from fulfilling that obligation. We have forgotten that we are to be our brothers’ keeper, and that the same spiritual truth that prepared us to live in eternity is also essential in preparing us to live on this planet earth. Most often we affirm that politics is a dirty game. This is not true; it becomes a dirty game when we allow the ungodly to take total control. We dare not advocate our responsibility to the society of which we are so very much a vital part.

As the light of the world, we need to exert our influence not only in the church but also in the business life, home life, social life, community life and in politics and governance.

Since government has the power to control various area and activities of our lives, it is vital that Christian should understand the importance of our environment in the political process. Everett Hale, author of the ‘man without a country’ said “I’m only one – but so something. What can I do, I should do what I should do, by the grace of God, and I will do”

In order to do what you ought to do so as to make your influence felt the first thing is that your vote matters a lot, because your vote is your power. Secondly thing you have to do is to register with a political party. There is nothing wrong in becoming a politician. Government is God’s ordained way of ruling mankind and political parties have the mandate to choose or elect the persons who will rule God’s people. If you told your hands and keep watching them, the ungodly will elect the wrong person and impose on us.
