Naming the five worst presidents after Word War II, then explaining their reforms as well as mistakes as presidents.

Lyndon Johnson
He was the Thrity-sixth president and became so in 1963. Johnson became the thirty-seventh Vice President, he succeeded to the role of presidency following Kennedy’s assassination. He was a major leader of the democratic party and as president was incharge of creating a great society, liberal legislation including civil rights laws, medicare(health care for the elderly), medicaid(health care for the poor), aid to education and a “war on poverty”. Lyndon though simultaneously escalated the involvement of America in the Vietnam war, from 16,000 troops to 550,000 through this he became less popular. He won the re-elections easily in 1964 but he became less popular and by 1968 his party collapsed. He withdrew from the elections and decide to concentrate on piece making.

Jimmy Carter
The thrity-ninth president of the United State became president in January 20, 1977. Carter’s presidency was marked by several major crisis, including the takeover of the American embassy and holding of hostages by students in Iran, a failed rescue attempt of the hostages, serious fuel shortages, and the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. His administration created the department of energy and the department of education. He established a national policy, removed price controls from domestic petroleum production, but was unable to make the USA less reliant on foreign oil sources. The final year of his term was dominated by the Iran hostage crisis, during which the United States struggled to rescue diplomats and American citizens held hostage in Tehran. By 1980, Carter was so unpopular that he was challenged by Ted Kennedy for the Democratic Party nomination in 1980. Carter received the Democratic nomination, but lost the election to Republican Ronald Reagan. After leaving office, Carter founded an institute to promote global health, democracy and human rights. Carter also became a prolific author, writing twenty seven books. As of 2008, he is the earliest living president and the second-oldest living president.

Bill Clinton
The Forty-second president of the United States stayed president from 1993-2001. He was the third youngest president and became president during the Cold war. Clinton presided over the longest period of peace-time economic expansion in American history, which included a balanced budget and a reported federal surplus.Clinton reported a surplus of $559 billion at the end of his presidency, based on congressional accounting rules. His presindency was challenged though, as after his failed attempt at health care reforms republicans won control of the house of representatives. Then he was impeached by the the U.S. House for perjury and obstruction of justice. Clinton left his office with an approval rating of 65% but the Lewinsky scandal(in which he held sexual relations with an 22 year old white house intern) left an irremovable mark on his name.

Richard Nixon
The thirty-seventh president of the United States became president in 1968. Before this he was the thirty sixth vice president from 1953-1961. While he was president the states followed a policy marked by détente(a reduction of tension) with the Soviet union and an opening of diplomatic relations with the people’s republic of China. His administration faced resistance to the Vietnam War. As a result of the Watergate scandal, Nixon resigned the presidency in the face of likely impeachment by the United States House of representatives and conviction by the senate. Due to the Water Gate scandal he is hated by many because this scandal not only brought The morale of Robert Nixon to an all time low it also damaged the name of America.Nixon was pardonned but later died of a stroke in 1994.

George W. Bush
The forty-third president of the United States became president on January 20th,2001 and is still currently president. George W. Bush at first was very supported up to the highest support any president has seen(upto 90%) but after the attack in 2001 they were at their lowest(24%), the highest level of disfavour since Richard Nixon. He launced his war against terror which still continues in Afghanistan and so forth. Geroge W. Bush has been criticised for his weapons of mass destruction theory which in fact led to nothing and is the target of mockery around the world. He is also criticised for not bringing the troops home as the families await their arrival. These decisions are considered rash,baseless and without logic.Therefore President Bush is the current and worst president America has ever seen

You can’t be serious… Johnson, Carter, Nixon, Clinton, BushII? Certainly, the parallels between Vietnam and Iraq are robust, but the positive legislative legacy of Johnson so completely trumps that of any other president that, at worst, he could be fifth on this list. Second, Carter is worse than Nixon – who WAS impeached and resigned in disgrace after a thirty-year career of dirty tricks? (BTW: as I recall, Nixon proved as committed to Vietnam as Johnson, no?) And then Clinton is worse than Bush II or even I? Unbelievable, as if being unable to pass legislation over the Contract on America crowd and not being able to keep his zipper shut – while leading us out of the post-Cold War recession and staggering deficits of the Reagan/Bush era – was worse than ignoring repeated warnings of an attack by Osama bin Laden, lying to us about Iraq, rejecting signed international treaties and the norms and values of the international community, embracing the know-nothing rejection of evolutionary and climate science, instituting a form of imperial presidency that loves undemocratic secrecy and hates the constitutional separation of powers, and embracing a quasi-McCarthyite politics of slander and attack – with the lowest sustained approval ratings of any president – since Nixon? I’ll repeat, unbelievable.

This list is off. Worst is Jimmy Carter, then Hoover, then Johnson, I don’t agree Richard Nixon, George W. Bush, and even Bill Clinton don’t belong on the worst list. They will not belong to the best of all time but they were not at all the worst.

this guy definitely needs to do some more research. George Bush as the worst president. HOW. he eliminated the 21st century adolf hitler. i think people forget about that. i would think that Carter is the worst for leaving america defenseless, then followed by Clinton for getting rid of everything and lowering human rights in america, then Johnson , then Nixon, i’m not sure you can even put bush on there. he did a good job, congress and the senate was the problme

I still place Carter as number one. Johnson was merely a do-nothing President that sat in his fog and wached the world go by.
Carter is being replaced by Obama as Obama prints off billions of Monopoly money to put in the economy. He also gives the money to the rich bankers, auto execs, and AIG for their parties and bonuses.
Obama taking the U.S. from a recession into the worst depression. I don’t think the U.S. will ever recover from this Presidents blunders.

hmm, 5 worst since WW2, 1.GWB 2.Ford 3.Carter 4.LBJ 5.Clinton who was decent but the worst of the ones left. 5 best since WW2 1.Truman 2.Eisenhower 3.Reagan 4.JFK 5.Bush 41.

I’ll drop Eisenhower down to 4th worst. filling in will be nixon at 5th best (okay, so he messed up.) the only bad presidents here were carter and bush. to make a list like this, you must weigh the good against the bad, which is why I don’t consider Johnson, Nixon or Clinton a bad president. where was Gerald Ford on that list?

Now you have to either replace one of those Presidents with Obama or just add him and change it to 6 worst POTUS’s.
