The Fool on The…..beach

A meandering, soul searching commentary and suggestion.
Perhaps, "calm in a troubling ocean of storm".

For the sake of argument, I’ll refer to the current U.S. population as at about 305 million in order to put a number upon it.

I saw news articles today stating that the Govt. has been apprised to expect from 1/3 to 50% of the population to suffer from the H1N1 Swine Flue epidemic this Fall.

In and of itself, that news isn’t all that surprising and I suppose the numbers are so overwhelming that the reality of it is beyond comprehension; until “it” arrives. Both in reality and in subconscious preparation.

As a general thought process I started thinking about the sheer mass of humanity in all sorts of aspects concerning reality. All forms of Entertainment, Crime, Economy, Politics, Health, and all sorts of other issues.

As an older man, “Baby Boomer” by label, I find myself thinking back to childhood and how much the world has changed in attitude, viewpoint, psychology and demeanor. A song frequently plays in the back of my mind, “The Fool on the HIl”- Sergio Mendez Brazil 66 (I believe).

“Sees the sun going down and the eyes in his head sees the world spinning ’round.”

GeorgeCarlin made an observation some time before his passing that we were watching the swirling water in a toilet that had just been flushed. A sad comment that I suppose could be attributed to a man in his waning hours? Therefore I am trying to be careful not to repeat the same viewpoint.

I mentioned in a prior article that people were preparing for their own delusional version of “Red Dawn” which was prompted by a reference in an episode of “Scrubs” where all three of the main characters walked by a television and commented a subconscious acknowledgment of a DVD of “Red Dawn” that was playing.

There is a very real and subliminal psychology at work currently, depending upon the personal viewpoints of varying attitudes and philosophies and a palpable texture in the “air” concerning dread over impending possible drama to be played out within society.

I got to thinking about all the various individuals and groups ranging from the lonely to the mutually avowed for survival based upon ethnic, social, economic, “attitudinal” viewpoints or other commonalities.

I started examining my own thoughts, based on upbringing and philosophies and just simply can’t find the fear, dread or apprehension that I would imagine or “know” exists in the world. Possibly due to my age and my unrelenting desire to seek and find humor in just about everything. (An aspect of my characteristics that has provoked many throughout my life.)
