The Libertarian Party’s Stance
It is time to take notice of the Libertarian Party’s stance on main issues.
Many people do not know that there are more political parties other than Republican, Democrat or Independent. One of the fastest growing parties is the Libertarian Party, the Party of Principle. The Libertarian Party prides itself on its three main viewpoints: Smaller Government, Lower Taxes and More Freedom. The American people mostly agree with these viewpoints but it’s time to take notice of where they stand on some of today’s biggest issues.
The Bailouts: Bad Idea
Libertarians will not and will never agree with Governmental bailouts. The party sees these handouts as bad for the economy, the taxpayer and for the business. Mismanagement should never be rewarded with money. We learned this from an early age. If you do wrong, you are punished, not rewarded. Libertarians believe that those who mismanage their company should have to deal with the consequences instead of relying on the taxpayer to bail them out.
The Economy
Libertarians believe in a free market. They do not agree with Federal interventions of the market such as the Federal Reserve System, the National Banking System, and the National Credit Union Administration. Libertarians see this as a violation of the free market and therefore believe all interventions should be abolished.
Health Care
Libertarians are for a completely free market health care industry. Libertarians support an end to all Federally funded health insurance, federally funded health care research and the Food and Drug Administration. Libertarians believe that without government intervention into the health care industry, insurance and medical costs would be affordable for everyone.
Taxes
The Party calls for the repeal of the income tax and all federal programs not protected by the United States Constitution which include the Internal Revenue Service. Libertarians believe the 16th Amendment was illegally ratified and should be repealed. They support the abolishment of all taxes but in a slow way. Libertarians believe the budget should be balanced by cutting spending instead of increasing taxes.
Gun Control
Libertarians call for the repeal of all gun control laws. They are supporters of the Second Amendment. Their main belief is that the only legitimate use of force is to defend the individual rights which include life, liberty and justly acquired property. Guns may be used in that defense.
“Liberals want the government to be your Mommy. Conservatives want the government to be your Daddy. Libertarians want it to treat you like an adult.” – Andre Marrou
