The World’s Most Popular Ilocano Filipino
Here’s a list of locally and internationally Famous Ilocanos.
Of the 15 presidents of the Philippines from Emilio Aguinaldo to Benigno Aquino III, 6 were Ilocanos.
1.) Carlos P. Romulo

Carlos P. Romulo is undoubtedly one of the most famous Filipinos of Ilocano descents. This popular statesman from Camiling, Tarlac holds different cabinet post under 8 different Philippine Presidents. He was the former President of the United Nations General Assembly.
2.) Jejomar Binay

The current Philippine Vice-President Jejomar Binay is an Ilocano whose mother is from Cabagan, Isabela. He was formerly the mayor of Makati City.
3.) Juan Ponce Enrile

Juan Ponce Enrile is from Gonzaga, Cagayan. He is currently the Senate President of the Philippine Senate. He was the Minister of National Defense during the Marcos regime and was once a congressman from Cagayan.
4.) Elpidio Quirino

Elpidio Quirino, the 6th President of the Philippines from 1948–1953 is a native of Caoayan, Ilocos Sur.
5.) Ramon F. Magsaysay

Ramon F. Magsaysay, the 7th President of the Philippine Republic, was a pure Ilocano from Castillejos, Zambales.
6.) Carlos P. Garcia

Carlos P. Garcia is the 8th President of the Philippines. He was born in Bohol but his parents were both Ilocanos from Bangued, Abra.
7.) Ferdinand E. Marcos

Ferdinand E. Marcos, the 10th Philippine President and the longest to reigned, is from Batac, Ilocos Norte.
8.) Fidel V. Ramos

Fidel V. Ramos or FVR of Asingan, Pangasinan was the 12th President of the Philippines from 1992 to 1998. He served as Chief of Staff and Secretary of national Defense during the Aquino administration.
9.) Gloria Macapagal

Although Gloria Macapagal Arroyo is from Pampanga, she speaks Ilocano fluently because her maternal grandfather Juan Macaraeg was from Bacarra, Ilocos Norte. Macapagal-Arroyo is the 14th President of the Philippines.
10.) Josefa Llanes Escoda

Josefa Llanes Escoda, one of the 3 figures in the 1000 Philippine Peso Bill, was a women’s rights activist and the founder of the GSP or Girl Scout of the Philippines. She was born and grew up in Dingras, Ilocos Norte.

PGMA is more of infamous than popular, so is Marcos. Didn’t know PGMA has Ilocano roots, I thought she is from Tarlac

i agree with you macherie about PGMA,,, during the last two decades I believe Philippine history writers have depicted Marcos very badly, they didn’t even mentioned that Marcos constructed much more infrastructure projects compared to all the Philippine presidents combined prior to his election to office
