I don&#039;t understand why New Labour, after obtaining power back in &#039;97, didn&#039;t start to SLOWLY edge more traditional centre-leftist policies in and prove that they DO WORK.  Us social democratic centre-leftists are in a really difficult situation at the moment; who on earth do we vote for?  Better the devil you know than the devil you don&#039;t I say...  Although a General Election defeat might just be what Labour needs as a catalyst for a move leftwards.</description>
