15 Ideas to Stretch Your Mental Ability

Here are 15 ideas to stretch your mental ability.

1. Learn a foreign language. I have found this is a real stretching activity to learn another language, why not try a language you’ve always wanted to learn.

2. Read a challenging book. Great philosophers are an example, but anything that has new ideas or theories that you have not experienced before.

3. Learn a new hobby. Why not try out something you have always been meaning to do but have never got around to doing.

4. Challenge your fears. When you encounter a fear that is holding you back, instead of running away from it, why not confront it and see if you can overcome it.

5. Learn a musical instrument. As with a new language, learning an instrument which is completely new, really stretches you.

6. Learn a new skill. Why not learning something completely unknown to you that would really come in useful to you.

7. Read a new author. If you read books, reading a new author has different styles and ideas that will be different from what you have previously experienced before.

8. Join a new organization or club where you are amongst cleverer people

9. Try and initiate a conversation with someone you don’t know

10. Try out a new kind of food

11. Start a business. Gathering the skills required and making it work and profitable is an incredibly stretching thing to do.

12. Take a degree in a subject. A degree will teach you new ideas and theories and will stretch you mentally as well.

13. Never stop being a student of learning.

15. Do daily puzzles like crosswords. These are simple exercises that will keep your brain active on a daily basis
