An insight into better understanding of dreams.

Dreams are the subconscious reflection of our being that affects our lives more than we could ever imagine. Through cutting-edge technology and the brilliance of some dedicated researchers, a new and groundbreaking discovery reveals secret codes behind our dreams that can provide us with some amazing insights into the most misunderstood language of our subconscious mind.

One way for our subconscious mind to communicate or transmit messages to us is through dreams. Some experts say that dreaming is a kind of mood regulatory system that enables people to work through some of their daily emotional turmoil.

Dreams can even help professional therapists treat patients who are undergoing traumatic experiences by keeping track of their patient’s dream pattern over a certain period of time.

Scientists are now probing still into finding new ways to interpret dream codes, which could prove wrong the notion that “dreams contain images with universal meaning”. They believe in the fact that dream symbolizes different meaning depending on the dreamer’s state of mind before sleeping.

Today, psychologists are making use of computer technology to also decode the meaning of color in dreams. The study suggests that specific colors represent a particular emotion; take for example, red symbolizes desire or excitement, blue means calmness or tranquility, black connotes difficult times, and so on… the dreamer always conjure different color palettes depending on their personal state of mind.

Some scientists however, insist that one doesn’t need a therapist or modern day technology to interpret dreams; according to them, the dreamers themselves are the best interpreter of their dreams.

Dreams can also help us solve some of our problems, by training ourselves to dream up the solution and let our subconscious mind do the work. Researchers suggest that you can guide your subconscious to dream while sleeping, and they call this technique “lucid dreaming”, wherein a person realizes he or she is dreaming while it is in fact happening. Lucid dreamers experience a sense of adventure while being aware that they are just dreaming. This experience can be use for problem solving, healing or even enhancing your creative ideas.

So the question now is how can we best recall our dreams in order to interpret them? Here are some guidelines given by experts:

  • Before going to sleep, consciously think of something or someone you wish to dream about, and then pose a question that’s been troubling you.
  • Keep paper and pen handy so you could record your dream as soon as waking up.
  • Try to wake up naturally and slowly.
  • Try to connect your dream images to the recent events in your life; look for patterns or symbolisms.
  • Learn to visualize creating a more positive outcome to your dream.
  • Be patient and keep on practicing the technique.

Indeed, dreaming can help us in various ways, from finding a solution to our dilemma to simply gaining insights into our deepest selves.
