Discover the Significance and Meaning of Color in Your Life
Everything from the way you dress to the nonverbal messages you’re sending the world become a mirror reflection of who you are and what you’ll ultimately attract into your life, business, personal relationships, etc. To help you better maneuver and understand the world it’s a good idea to learn as much as you can about human behavior, communication, and everything that goes along with personal choices. To get started, focus on the meaning and significance behind color choices.
Red
Red has the ability to immediately draw attention, which is why it is used for fire equipment, stop signs, etc. It is a stimulant and has more personal and emotional connotations than any other color. It is associated with strength, power, war, passion, love, determination and desire. It increases metabolism, blood pressure, energy and enthusiasm, creates a feeling of protection from anxiety and fear, and promotes confidence and action.
Again, different shades of red evoke different meanings. Light red produces sensitivity, joy, love and passion. Dark red represents courage, leadership, rage, and anger.
Because of its ability to capture attention so effectively it is smart to make “buy” and “click” here buttons red. It’s also a great color to use with high energy merchandise like energy drinks and sports related products.
Yellow
Yellow is a color that creates happiness, optimism, intellect, joy, enlightenment, with the promise of a positive future. It sparks creative thoughts, instills energy, evokes honor and loyalty. It encourages communication, stimulates the mind, nervous system and memory.
Be careful, overusing yellow can make babies cry more, so be sure to use it with balance in your newborns room. Like red, yellow is an attention getting color and that is why taxi cabs are often yellow. Because of its cheerful connotations yellow is also a good color to use in promoting leisure activities and children’s products.
Gray
This is the universal favorite suit color typically mixing well with all other colors. It is practical, timeless and solid. However, while it is a favored suit color, it is often not named as a favorite color. Why? Probably because gray is also associated with depression or loss feelings that most people steer clear from. Maybe at work we’re trying to convey a serious, no-nonsense affect?
Black
Powerful and authoritative, too much black can sometimes be overwhelming. It is a timeless, classic color because it conveys sophistication and makes a person appear thinner in clothing. Black is a restful color evoking mystery, possibility, formality, prestige, elegance, and a feeling of inconspicuousness.
Black or gray are both great colors to use in art galleries for example, because these colors help other colors stand out. However, there are many negative associations with black like blacklist, black holes, evil, fear, the unknown and grief.

Very interesting indeed. I didn’t realize our choice in colors could actually reflect our physical personna and stimulate our social attractions. Real solid article! Thumbs up!

Very cool idea for an article. We are in the process of painting the walls in our house light and dark green. Here’s to hope, endurance, and safety!
