Do We Need any Sense in The Education System?
Most people went to school and some people and most people did not like it. But not many people seem to ask why that is or what could be changed.
Our education system is fairly new and probably all of us went through it and came somehow different out the other end – unless we are still stuck in the midst of it. Now the question is what did it do to you and the next question is positive or negative what it did to you?
The movement -which is another one of these global movements-, is another one towards the head. Most of the things that happen in the schools are moving in or around or towards the head. All right there are sports, and there might be some arts as well and some very fancy schools even have something like crafts but overall what you do all day is work your head. It even gets worse the older you get with a climax in university where you just bring your head to the lectures in the morning, leave it there and get it filled up and collect it at the end of the day.
Let’s face it: the overall emphasis is not on things like sports, arts or crafts, things where you actually use the rest of the body, but what is important is English, Math’s and IT. This emphasis on the cognitive side instead of developing the whole human being, the body, the personality is fairly new and just started with industrialization. Before that it was fairly embedded that you have to do arts to develop your soul-life and your personality and that you have to do sports to develop your body – just to mention the gymnasium in the old Greek times. We probably left the body out of the equation with the education system being run by the Church, when the body was something bad to overcome anyway in the middle ages but at least there were still the arts. But in the last 150 years we also lost the developing factor for our soul-life and personality which left us just with the head…
So now we want to teach the kindergarten children IT and then we are surprised if always more and more children are diagnosed with ADHD…Interesting isn’t it? Have look at this fantastic video.

Your views and content in this article do contain very good points. Creativity and imagination are not embraced even in our public school systems or home schooling. In America, emphasis is placed upon external appearance and material possessions, it not based upon character. The education system that our children have become subjected to is a good representation of what being an adult in society is. It’s sad to think that our arts are not promoted to the degree that a NFL player would be or a celebrity. Wouldn’t you say media is to blame for this as well?

You are absolutely right. The media go with this but it is a question whether the media are the reason or the symptom. It is probably as Robinson says in the video that “being the professor” is the aim of all university learning instead of a preperation for life which would include also a developing of the personality. Really good video and worthwile watching.
