Dream Interpretation: a Pauper in Your Dreams

Written to help you interpret and understand your dreams.

Dreams are a connection between our waking lives and the rich, mysterious world of our subconscious minds. Our dreams reveal our deepest hopes and wishes, our strengths and weaknesses, our struggles and victories, our desires and our needs. In short, our dreams show us everything about ourselves, sometimes even when we aren’t aware of certain aspects of our personality.

The symbolic language of our dreams is individual and unique to the dreamer. The symbols you see in your dreams are trying to tell you a story and apply exclusively to your waking life. So, when it comes to interpreting your dreams there is no better expert than yourself.

Sometimes my interpretations won’t seem to apply to you, the people around you or your current situation. If this happens, focus on your symbol; on its own and within the context of your dream. Look for clues about the symbol’s meaning to you and its application to your personal circumstances.

The Meaning of a Pauper in Dreams

A pauper is simply a person who is very poor. Seeing a pauper can be symbolic of different things, depending on the context of your dream. Think carefully; are you watching someone who is a pauper or are you the pauper?

To observe a pauper can be symbolic of wanting to give something to another. Perhaps, in your waking life, you are naturally generous and nurturing toward all who cross your path. In this example, the pauper of your dream is a symbol of your giving nature.

Alternatively, is this an area of your waking life that needs developing and strengthening? Are there times that you actually could be more giving, generous or nurturing? Or, are you generous and nurturing to a fault? In your waking life, do you feel used and taken advantage of because you’ve been giving and nurturing? Perhaps these experiences have left you feeling emotionally, spiritually, physically or financially as poor as a pauper.

To dream that you are a pauper may be symbolic of something that is lacking with you personally. Look at your waking life. Perhaps you lack materialistically, creatively, artistically, spiritually or intellectually. Is there an aspect of yourself or your current situation that needs your attention, generosity and nurturance?

Dreams are a window onto a hidden, secret part of us. Learn to look through that window and you’ll be amazed! Understanding what we see, in our dream symbols, allows us an opportunity to strengthen our self knowledge and to live richer, more fulfilling lives.
