Dream Interpretation – House and Rooms Part Two
by Have you ever wondered what dreaming about a door, fence, garage or garden mean; and why you dream about a different home to the one you have now?
To dream of a house refers to various aspects of the Self, and the rooms in a house relate to facets of the personality.
Door
A door signifies new opportunities that are presented before you. If you walk through the door, you are entering into a new stage in your life and moving from one level of consciousness to another. In particular, a door that opens to the outside signifies your need to be more accessible to others, whereas a door that opens into the inside denotes your desire for inner exploration and self-discovery.
A fence signifies an obstacle or barrier that may be standing on your path. You may feel confined and restricted in expressing yourself. You may be feeling ‘fenced-in’ by a situation, or confined in some relationship. If you dream that you are on the fence, then the dream may be a metaphor indicating that you are undecided about something.
Garage
A garage signifies a period of inactivity and idleness in your life. You may feel that you are lacking direction or guidance in achieving your goals. To dream that you are pulling your car into the garage represents security and stability brought about by your accomplishments and efforts. Opening the garage door denotes making a decision. Closing the garage door denotes stalling.
A vegetable or fruit garden indicates hard work and diligence will pay off in the end. It is also symbolic of stability, potential, and inner growth. You need to cultivate a new skill or nurture your spiritual and personal growth. A flower garden represents tranquillity, comfort, love and domestic bliss. A sparse, weed-infested garden suggests you may have neglected your spiritual needs.
Home
Your home signifies security, basic needs, and values. You may be feeling ‘at home’ or ‘settled’ at your new job or environment. To see your childhood home, your hometown, or a home that you previously lived in, indicates your own desires for building a family or your beliefs about home. It also reflects aspects of yourself that were prominent or developed during the time you lived in that home.

I do sometimes dream about a wonderful Victorian house I lived in as a teenager. It was definitely my favourite house and would love to be living there even now. An enlightening piece.
