Education at Home

by martto in Psychology, October 26, 2009

Nowadays, everyone is concerned about work and money, but no one cares about the education we are giving to our children.
I will give my reasons of why this should be improved in everyone’s home.

Education at home is considered by most people as the place where the children’s personality is formed, but some people argue that this is not the only fact that determines the children’s personality.

To begin with, education at home provides the main skills to interact with society. This includes the knowledge of what is considered good and wrong in society, the social responsibility each person has, the ethical and the unethical, etc. So it is really important for the children’s social life.

Furthermore, education at home shapes children’s personality as children try to imitate their parents’ actions and behavior. So here is where children are taught what they can and what they can not do, shaping their social attitude and learning values they will have in their life.

However, home is not the only place where children learn values, school and friends also contribute significantly in the children’s upbringing. Because children spend a lot of time in school and relating with friends so children will be influenced by them, changing their way of thinking, introducing new values and affecting their actions. So the children’s personality will have a radical change if their group of friends and school has a different scale of values from the one of parents

To conclude, home education is the base for the children’s upbringing but it is not the only one as school and friends will influence in a lot of aspects and will contribute to the children’s formation of their personality
