Extraordinarily Weird Phobias
Phobias are often not understood by people who don’t have them, but for sufferers they are a very serious matter. There is someone somewhere with a phobia of just about anything you can think of.
A phobia is an irrational, intense and often illogical fear of something. For the person affected it is not amusing because a real phobia can cause extreme reactions.
However, to those who are not affected, some of them are very strange. Here is a quick guide to phobias and what they are.
Ablutophobia.: The fear of taking a bath. (A condition often claimed by teenage boys!)

Alliumphobia: Fear of garlic. This is a condition which must be very common in vampires.

Zoophobia: Fear all kinds of animals. (Not specific animals. This one is a general phobia.)

Tonsurophobia: Fear of having a haircut, but the fear of hair itself is called chaetophobia.

Somniphobia: The fear of falling asleep, or allowing yourself to go to sleep. However, clinophobics have a fear of going to bed.

Bibliophobia: The fear of books.

Chrometophobia: This is the fear of money and anyone suffering from this problem can call me for instant assistance. I will remove the problem immediately.

Coulrophobia: Fear of circus clowns.

Ornithophobia: Fear of birds. However the fear of chickens its own special name: alektorophobia.

Pedophobia: The fear of children. (Well, I can understand this when I see some of them.)

Ombrophobia: This is the fear of rain. (Ombrophobics would not want to live in England.)

Ranidaphobia: This condition is the fear of frogs.

Doraphobia: The fear of fur and furry things.

Gymnophobia: Fear of being naked.

Cyberphobia: The fear of computers or working on a computer. (I think that might be a good one to develop. It would give me a rest.)

Great job, louie. I didn’t know about these phobias. I have a fear of mice. It’s so bad that I can’t stay in the same room as one without wanting to jump out of my skin.

I am afraid of heights and water. I think all of us have some kind of phobia, and are in denial, or just not aware that we have them. Very good article.

A great article. I had no idea there were so many phobias. I have always suffered from agoraphobia but it has eased considerably as I have got older and stress levels have decreased. Good work.

My brother used to have lizardo-phobia. He wouldn’t enter the room with a lizard- probably, in childhood, he must have felt it might fall on his head.

I got a wonderful guffaw out of the money one. Send a few of those people my way, too! As for phobias, I’m not precisely afraid of them, but I find slimy things down-right disgusting.

Louie, nice one. My ex chased me with a water bug when I was pregnant. I so hate those bugs, and notice I said “ex”. lol

Its not so much that I fear lots of these, as much as I dislike them – particlular baths (I prefer showers), clowns (nasty) and babies (not on your list, I blame my mom who had too many kids and I was the oldest, I hate babies because they made me feel unloved)
I dont like being naked because its too cold.
No fear of any kind of animals- I even try to set spiders free if they are in the house.
