Fortune Telling, Divination
by Our ancestors wanted to know what and how things are with the luck, bad luck, love or death. They wore amulets, as we have seen from their graves, have left their marks on bones and stones. Famous Delphi oracle sites were in Greece or the oasis of Siwa in Egypt.
Lived here for well-defined rites soothsayer who predicted the future in exchange for money. One can easily imagine that decisions were often influenced by political and the oracles. A newer type is a crystal ball or the computer is used for oracle interview. Most soothsayers have to be special techniques designed to foretell the future to its customers. The central question is what happens in the near future?
Palm reading, card reading, dream interpretation, clairvoyance, pendulum, personal interviews, the crystal can be the media, which makes use of a soothsayer.
Of the theologians and the churches the divination is regarded as superstition. The great enemy of divination are the Catholic and Protestant church, because in their opinion and doctrine divination does not fit with the Christian worldview.
Probably the most famous soothsayer Nostradamus might be. He has made including horoscopes for the greats of his time. The famous Wallenstein has many of his far-reaching decisions consulted astrologers and is oriented to the stars.
In summary one can say that the soothsayer with different practices, future, or other information sought his client can access. This is our normal perception is not possible for human intelligence and hard to imagine.
