Fubars of Society: Driving

Okay, I am a good person, I try to walk anywhere or bike anywhere I can. A few days ago I was biking down a back street and I had the right of way, one guy stopped at the stop sign then went ahead just in front of me and nearly knocked me over. After he unbalanced me the second vehicle  came flying and didn’t even slow down! I turned as fast as I could and should have gone head first into the sidewalk had for some unknown reason I didn’t luckily!

You already know I like to walk and bike, it is better for everyone! Right? WRONG! So I was walking down the sidewalk and there was construction going on. Naturally people were getting annoyed about the delays so some dick in a big Ford pickup truck pulls up onto the sidewalk and peels ‘er. He flew past the construction and should have killed or a least destroyed some, luckily he did not! However his plate was taken by one of the workers when I asked and hopefully he was later ticketed. What would have happened if he had hit a worker? Ya, it would have been bad! Lucky for me I was about 20 meters behind the whole thing and was completely safe!

So once again I am on foot and I hear a siren, OK cool someone is out to save someone else! I was amazed the see the ambulance round the corner at about 10KM an hour which is 7 or so miles, they then proceeded to drive around 30km/h towards me. I realized why when I noticed about 1 in 5 cars actually MOVED! This was ridiculous someone could be having a heart attack but someone else going to buy a can of soda pop doesn’t care it doesn’t affect them why bother wasting your time! We shall see what you think when I put my car in park in front of an ambulance heading for their house eh? Ya that would be a horrible thing to do but it is EXACTLY what they did to someone else! As a note when you hear sirens you are supposed to pull over out of the way so they can get past as fast as possible, who knows the next day it may be you their rushing for!

   Finally, I was driving around with some friends, and stow it yes I am 18 and hang out with 18 year old males but me and my friends aren’t idiots! Yes, we were buying fireworks and were going to an abandoned parking lot to fire them off responsibly! Same as we were driving responsibly. We came to a 4 way stop. The concept is fairly simple is it not? Four Way Stop, each direction stops before proceeding, it is not when it is convenient! as we approached it we saw 3 people all drive through barely slowing down simply because there was no other traffic immediately there, well we weren’t THAT far away not to mention it is still breaking the law!
