It’s the Latina songbird Shakira who sings about hips not lying, and boy, she shakes them as if they don’t have any bones in them. Are men attracted to women with larger hips? Do large hips have any reproductive or evolutionary significance? A little research reveals that most women incessantly seek the hour glass shape with narrow waists and larger hips in the belief that this shape contributes to mate attraction. Does it?
Larger hips have reproductive and evolutionary significance
Research reveals that larger hips have an evolutionary significance for they largely affect the choice of a mate among male humans. Larger hips are thought to provide better maternal ability for they seem to suggest an ease of motherhood as opposed to narrow hips which suggest a narrower cervical canal and therefore maternal difficulty. Do hips lie about this ability to deliver problem free or do they tell a truth that has for long been a function of mate attraction?
Larger hips provide for a wider endocervical canal
Larger hips are a function of a larger hip bone and wider endocervical canal. Statistics tie this larger size and wider cervical canal to the ease of birth which remains a function of reproduction. Women with narrow hips tend to require surgical intervention at times if delivery is to be as problem free as possible.
Most men are attracted to bootylicious women
With this information, it therefore seems that the Colombian singer is after all right. Hips don’t lie and for that reason, most men are attracted to bootylicious women out of evolutionary and reproductive significance rather than cosmetic attraction, which explains the attempt by many women to appear wider at the hips than they really are.

I believe there is a typo in the first paragraph, “and boy, HE shakes them…” Shakira is not a boy,
Otherwise, this does seem to make sense from an evolutionary standpoint, and it brings me to ask the question why our current models are actually models. They are extremely skinny, almost sickly looking, and with little figure. Now personally, looks are not important to me, though if I really had the choice of body type alone, I would definitely pick a “Shakira” over current models. I never really thought of it from an evolutionary standpoint though, so good post! 
Also, its a good thing you added that disclaimer, we both know someone would post something against this without it.

If you have naturally big hips that’s great and the way nature intended, but if nature didn’t intend it that way, there are still plenty of men who love slender hips. Don’t starve yourself to be slender but I do like to see people at a reasonable weight for health reasons.

I’m sorry but most of the time, women with larger hips donot have booty its just wide rather than a butt poking out! They be flat butt and wide hipped that is all! Women with decent hips with butt pokes out is the ones who have the booty! This article is bullcrap! and most latinas I have seen aint curvy at all the most they be is wide hips and flat butts or they get surgery done to get a butt! Come on now atheletic black women are the ones with the curvy firgures yep! Atheletic black women because not only they worksout but they are curvy with it as well and butt does stick out when they workout and I am not talking about the wide hipped kind because they be wide and flat as well just like Beyonce for example!
