How Do You Remember?

Memory, involves an imagination to remember where you left you keys, or a book.

A memory involves imagination, you are not accessing a file,  when you recall your past- you are re-creating who you once were.  If you want to remember a film, imagine yourself walking into the cinema, buying popcorn and taking your seat.  It’s much more effective than trying to pluck it out of the blue.

Anyone can have a great memory, the art of memory training,  is to notice the differences between things, the house with the real door,  as opposed to the one with the green gate.  If, you try to jumble them in your mind you will know that,  it is different.

Humour,  can help you find your keys, little things slip your attention,  because they don’t engage you.  To remember where you left your keys, imagine, your keys exploding or turning into a creature.  Then ask,  ’When was that explosion?’ or  ’Where is the spider?’

Memory likes horror stories, we have alert memories for things that evoke strong emotions, especially,  if they’re violent or absurd or disgusting.  You can use this to help you learn facts, such as England’s kings and  queens.

You can also, teach yourself to forget, sad memories  are hard to forget, but it can be erased.  If you have been threatened by someone at a post box, everytime you are near a post box you overcome your fear.  To alter the memory, think of it playing music, or something else you love.  This defuses the negative emotion and you start to forget, the memory becomes less interesting.

Your bank Pin is easier to recall than  a familiar face, this is because faces are a subtle combination of fine features.  With Pins you just need to add meaning.
