If Everyone Was Logical/Rational

My imagination and view on: if everyone became logical.

People usually find it difficult to talk to people who are irrational and lack logic thinking because they usually end up in arguments due to very different points of view. People also find it difficult to understand why people would steal and take drugs because it’s not rational behavior. But what if everyone became logical, rational, clear thinkers?

Everyone becoming logical and rational is a bad thing because life would become boring and dull for everyone. No one would learn different forms of art and different sports as a passion. No one would take up another language or a music instrument just to challenge themselves. Because if we only relied on our logics, then what is the logic behind playing basketball with our friends? One of the two most significant affects of everyone becoming logical is that there would be no improvement in living standards for the middle class & the rich and also no improvement in world science.

The improvement of living standards affects the people whom already have maintained their basic daily needs. For the Rich it would be to have more and more materialistic things that improves our daily life; including different forms of faster and more comfortable transport, fancier and tastier food and better television shows and movies & etc. Without the improvement of living standards, our world would not have an economy like we do now. We would not have service and volunteer work as well.

When someone is logical and rational without emotions, they would not buy more things that they do not need. Buying more materialistic things gives people temporary happiness. And happiness is the main reason why people consume, logical people would not need to consume. Logical people would not buy a new mobile phone because there’s not need for one. They would not watch television shows that are just for entertainment because it’s pointless. People would not try and follow the latest fashion, wear jewelry or make up because it is not logical. A logical person would not think there is a point in improving their life because they already have the basic daily needs and that is enough for them to survive.

The sector of human society where people try to find out more things about the world would not exist. Science in terms of discovering about the world would not exist but medical science would. There would be no scientist finding out why they sky is blue, why the moon is the color it is? Where Pluto is relevant to the earth?

The logical human who has no emotion would not discover more about the world humans live in because all of this is out of curiosity. Curiosity is not logical and rationale. It is a part of an emotion. In the world of logic as I said, emotion does not exist. If we were only logical, we would not have a reason for discovering about our world because it does not benefit us. The logical person would only study things that benefit itself and the human kind because it’s logical; logical discovery like medicine and vaccines to help humans survive.

Without emotion and passion and only with rational and logical thinking, there would be no love, no fun and everything in life would become dull. Curiosity and happiness two of the most important emotions would be lost. We wouldn’t have scientific advancements through curiosity or improvements in our living standards through materialistic things. Without these interest or new goals in life, life would be dry and not have a point in living. That is why no new scientific advancements and improvement in living standards are the two most important sectors in life that humans would lose if everyone became logical and rationale. Life would not be as great without the extra emotions and pointless things we do. We need some irrationally and illogical thinking time to time, even if it’s difficult to argue with really irrational people.

Though I fully agree that conflict and differences are necessary for life, I believe that all people are equally rational, and the differences that you are referring to are how people express their true thoughts, not what their true thoughts are.

Being logical doesn\\\’t mean ignoring your body\\\’s needs. We need happiness and it is a basic need. We play baseball with friends to improve our social life and for entertainment, we need it. I think that you missed your point, there\\\’s a philosophy to ignore your body needs but that\\\’s not logical thinking.
