Intj Profile (Part Two)

"Anyone considered to be “slacking,” including superiors, will lose their respect."

INTJ Profile

“INTJs are known as the “Systems Builders” of the types, perhaps in part because they possess the unusual trait combination of imagination and reliability. Whatever system an INTJ happens to be working on is for them the equivalent of a moral cause to an INFJ; both perfectionism and disregard for authority may come into play, as INTJs can be unsparing of both themselves and the others on the project. Anyone considered to be “slacking,” including superiors, will lose their respect — and will generally be made aware of this; INTJs have also been known to take it upon themselves to implement critical decisions without consulting their supervisors or co-workers. On the other hand, they do tend to be scrupulous and even-handed about recognizing the individual contributions that have gone into a project, and have a gift for seizing opportunities which others might not even notice.”

He will complain if a teacher isn’t doing something right or on time. He doesn’t really worry about consulting others before he chooses to do something, though he’s usually right anyway, so people tend to just let him do the project by himself.

“In the broadest terms, what INTJs “do” tends to be what they “know”. Typical INTJ career choices are in the sciences and engineering, but they can be found wherever a combination of intellect and incisiveness are required (e.g., law, some areas of academia). INTJs can rise to management positions when they are willing to invest time in marketing their abilities as well as enhancing them, and (whether for the sake of ambition or the desire for privacy) many also find it useful to learn to simulate some degree of surface conformism in order to mask their inherent unconventionality.”

Science and engineering, definitely. However, he also wants to cure cancer, solve world hunger, and rule the world, among other smaller goals. Ultimately he could end up in any field and be one of the best, but for now he’s just considering all of them.

Surface conformism? Hmm. I guess to an extent he does try to befriend others like him, and his insistence on getting people to agree with him on things could be an attempt to not seem too out-of-the-box, but at the same time, I think he’s cocky enough not to care that much if people think he’s unconventional. He’s well aware that being unconventional has its rewards.

Personal relationships, particularly romantic ones, can be the INTJ’s Achilles heel. While they are capable of caring deeply for others (usually a select few), and are willing to spend a great deal of time and effort on a relationship, the knowledge and self-confidence that make them so successful in other areas can suddenly abandon or mislead them in interpersonal situations.”

This part makes me laugh every time I read it. Junior does have the ability to care about others, and as far as I can tell, he doesn’t care much at all for people that don’t meet his criteria for a decent person. i.e. He doesn’t care about stupid people. In personal relationships, he sometimes gets mixed up with when it’s okay to be a perfectionist. Your girlfriend has every right to tell you to shave your beard- you are not allowed to tell her she needs a haircut. If she does, she’ll figure it out on her own.

Despite your confidence in yourself, you have to humble yourself every once in a while, or people will get annoyed.

The whole “Does it work?” process doesn’t really work with relationships. Love isn’t supposed to make sense. A girl doesn’t need a reason to get upset. People do ridiculous things for ridiculous reasons, and sometimes you just have to work through it and laugh about it later.
