Introduction

IQ stands for Intelligence Quotient. There are various tests which examine this quality in a systematic and scientific way. But today’s youth is said to have sufficient IQ to outsmart IQ tests, which are more than 10 years old. Is it true ?  Fine here’s a test. Well, there’s no marks. The more you get to answer, the better is your IQ.

Questions

Imagine these questions are asked by someone and you are actually LISTENING to the question, not READING it.

  1. You enter into a kitchen absolutely empty handed. You find a stove, a matchbox with 2 match sticks and a water tap (faucet). There is no vessel or sugar or T leaves or any other thing in the kitchen. Now your boss challenges you to make a T with these and there is no time to go out to the store or no neighbours nearby. The boss would wait only 30 seconds for the t. How would you do it ?
  2. You are taken as a prisoner to a King’s court and the King believes you are guilty and awards you the punishment, ” You will be left alone in a circular room with three doors, which are entrances to tunnels leading outside the palace. You are free to escape through any of these doors. But remember, behind the first door, there is the most ferocious lion in the world, which has been awaiting food for the past full month. The tunnel behind the second the door perishes into an endless and fatal pit, if a weight of over 1 gram is over it. The third tunnel is very long and it takes three months to reach the other end which is the driest spot of Sahara desert. Your crimes will be withdrawn, once you are outside this palace and I would reward you a thousand gold if you escape and meet me again in this palace.” So, which door would you prefer ?
  3. Answer this question in 5 seconds. During a race if you overtake the person running in the second position, you are currently in which position ?
  4. Name the English word that satisfies all of the following conditions:
  • It has SEVEN LETTERS.
  • A rich man almost needs this.
  • A poor man almost has this.
  • It is holier than the God.
  • It is more evil than the devil
  • It was there before God.

     5.  This is the best question, I’ve ever come across :

You are locked in a prison with two doors. One door leads to the exit, while the other door to a live man eater, which is unsurpassable. You need to escape with the help of two guards – one would always say the truth, while the other would always lie. You are allowed to ask only one question to anyone of the guards and you also do not know, who speaks truth and who lies. Can you come up with a safe way to escape ?

Answers

  1. Use the matchsticks to form the letter T and show it to your boss.
  2. I would prefer the first door, because a lion which has not eaten for a month would be dead.
  3. Of course Second. To all those who said first, you may be at the risk of taking slow decisions.
  4. The word is “NOTHING”. Got it ?
  5. This is an excellent question, with an excellent answer. You can ask either of the guards the following question : “If asked the other guard which is the safe door to exit, which one would he say ?” He would say a door, go safely through the other one.
