Kaufman Intelligence Test

INTRODUCTION Fluid and Crystallized are the two kinds of intelligence. The two types of intelligence Fluid and Crystallized are evaluated by the Kaufman’s tests. The KAIT or Kaufman Adolescent and Adult Intelligence Test are proposed to assess both fluid and crystallized intelligence. KAIT or Kaufman Adolescent and Adult Intelligence Test are separately managed universal intelligence tests suitable for the people of all age groups. > Fluid intelligence means the capability of finding the solution of the problem and interpretation. It is the reflection not to be affected by artistic experience and education. >Crystallized intelligence means the information and knowledge, which is subjective to one’s cultural and educational experiences. Alan S. Kaufman and Nadeen L. Kaufman developed Kaufman Intelligence Test or The KAIT. These were adopted as the way of assessing the wider explanation of fluid and crystallized abilities. These tests measure both the intelligences differently than all other means of judging the fluid and crystallized abilities. BASIS OF THE KAUFMAN TEST It is a test that stands on hypothesis that tells about the changes in intelligence that is developing at the moment. The KAIT is the test of those developmental and neuropsychological changes specific to adults that need a different approach for assessment. The KAIT is inclined to Horn and Cattell’s formulation of the difference between fluid and crystallized intelligence that is Gf-Gc theory. Gf stands for general fluid abilities and Gc stands for the general crystallized capabilities. The KAIT is also predisposed to some extent the Piaget’s theory of cognitive development. It has a special reference to the stage related to adolescence. The adolescents perform more complicated psychological operations at this stage and are better able to convert and use information. Luria’s theory of planning ability is another theoretical influence on the KAIT. This theory endeavor to explain developmental changes happening in early adolescence that effect decision making and problem solving.
Rules for administration of the KAIT
Very particular rules are applied to administer the test in order to get accurate scoring. Thus, administrators must be properly trained to administer the KAIT. Specifically, for all subtests there is a discontinue rule, instructing administrators when to stop administering test items.
COMPONENTS of KAUFMAN INTELLIGENE TEST
Core and expanded battery are the two major components of the Kaufman tests.
The core battery is composed of a fluid and a crystallized scale, and six subtests and the expanded battery consists of the core battery elements and four additional subtests. The following subtests of core battery are related to fluid intelligence:
