Kaufman Intelligence Test
Luid and Crystallized are the two kinds of intelligence. The two types of intelligence Fluid and Crystallized are evaluated by the Kaufman’s tests.
A – rational or logical steps,
B- a test of chronological way of thinking
C- secrecy rules,
D- a test to evaluate induction;
E -Rebus knowledge,
F – a check of long-term memory.
The following core battery subtests are related to crystallized intelligence
A -description or definition,
B- knowledge of words and language development test
C- double sense or meaning
D- language command measurement
E- auditory comprehension
F- listening power’s test
The expanded battery also includes
A- remembrance for block plan,
B- a measurement of visual dispensation
C- well-known faces,
D- cultural information related to crystallized intelligence
E- hearing delayed recall;
F- Rebus delayed recall.
The two delayed recall subtests provide a general measure of delayed memory.
Strengths of KAIT
1- Strength of the KAIT is that most of the subtests are presented in both visual and auditory formats. This gives test takers more variety and allows for measurement of intelligence in different contexts.
,2 – Due to the design of the test the test takers are kept active and engaged.
3 -, the KAIT is suitable for a vast age variety
4- this is more suitable and accurate in finding the intelligence changes between adolescence and adulthood.
5 -The KAIT is highly reliable and has great validity.
6 Studies have indicated through the Kaufman tests tests, the crystallized, fluid, and composite IQ scores are rightly and consistently measured.
7 -The KAIT gives IQ scores in a wide range, from much lower-than-average to much higher-than-average intelligence. Due to this the KAIT is often used to assess the exceptional individuals abilities.
PROCESS OF THE KAIT
The KAIT give raw scores, scaled scores, and intelligent quotient (IQ) scores. Raw scores are transformed to scaled scores make comparison easy between sub tests and between examinees. A mean of 10 is made the standard for scaled scores and a standard deviation of three. Three IQ scores are got those are: composite, fluid and crystallized intelligence.
The mean of IQ scores is100 and a standard deviation of 15 is kept.. The fluid intelligence IQ score is based on the sum of the three fluid intelligence subtests (logical mystery and Rebus learning). IQ score of the crystallized intelligence is based on the sum of the three crystallized intelligence subtests, definitions, double meanings, and listening comprehension. The composite intelligence IQ score is based on all six subtests.
CONLUSION
KAUFAN test are special in their utility. They are the only mean to measure the changing phases of intelligence and this is their uniqueness.
