Lucid Dreaming: How to Become The Master of Your Dreams

This article is on lucid dreaming and how to enter the state of being lucid.

Even before watching “Inception”, I always wanted to explore the world of a lucid dream. Who wouldn’t? Imagine being able to escape to your dream for a few hours fully knowing that it is a dream. This bit of knowledge gives you the ability to do whatever you want in the dream, such as creating anything from nothing. This article will help you gain the ability to trigger a lucid dream whenever you want through these simple steps.

The first step in achieving lucidity is sleep. Don’t attempt to become lucid at night when you go to sleep. You will become more successful if you sleep for 3 to 5 hours and wake up in the morning. The method of achieving lucidity I’m about to tell you works best when the body was recently asleep. The next step requires some patience.

Alright, now that you have gotten your sleep, what’s next? The first step is to get your mind awake just to the point where you are conscious. You don’t want to be too awake that you can’t go back to sleep. To do this, I suggest walking to the bathroom, and walking back to your bed. After you’ve done that, get ready for the most tedious part of this part of this process.

The next step is to “trick” your body to go sleep. Get all the itches out of your body. Scratch them as hard as you need to. After that, lay on your bed with your arms at your sides. Don’t even think about moving a muscle after you have lain down. The reason for this is that if you stay still long enough, and the time for this varies on how tired you are, the body will assume that the mind is asleep and enter sleep paralysis. Sleep paralysis is a safety mechanism that “locks” most of the voluntary muscle functions from your brain. The reason for this mechanism is that when you are dreaming of doing something active, such as running, you would perform these actions in reality and wake yourself up. Sleep paralysis prevents that. If you enter sleep paralysis, do not be afraid. It may be a bit frightening finding out that you can’t move your body, but it is well worth it. However, if you feel that it is too much, then here is one simple way to exit sleep paralysis: change your breathing pattern. Even in sleep paralysis, your breathing is still controllable. When you change your breathing pattern, your body will recognize that the mind is still awake and exit sleep paralysis. I have one more thing to add. Try to keep your mind awake while waiting for your body to go to sleep. If you mind goes to sleep before your body does, then you will mostly enter a non-lucid dream.
