Memoirs of a Schizophrenic

Schizophrenia, a disease that affects one in a hundred people.
This is a composite of a person that has been inflicted with the disease and how they perceive reality.

Authors note: This is an excerpt of a novel I am writing on a young man inflicted with schizophrenia; actually it’s a composite of my brother, who has been suffering from this disease for almost 40 years.

While today he is better, he must remain on medication to maintain a somewhat normal life.  Normal in the sense for him, not normal for the everyday person.  This book will be written from the young man’s point of view. And while I don’t claim to be an expert on the schizophrenia, I have witnessed enough of the disabling effects this disease had on my brother, a man of higher then normal intelligence, a man who had the world at his fingertips. While most of the book is written for dramtic licsense, some of what is written is actual accounts from my brother’s life and the delusions he suffered with this disease.

It is my hope that from what you will read will give you a better understanding of schizophrenia and not the Hollywood version of the disease.)

Hey there buddy, I think for the time being we have to keep things quiet for a bit.  So between us, it’s in our best interest to correspond with each other. That way we can talk without any interference from them.

The doctors for some reason don’t want me talking to you anymore; in fact they are telling me you are not real.  Screw them, we both know that they have no idea what they are talking about.  It’s the spirit of truth they don’t understand.  I tried to tell them that you hold the keys to the yellow submarine and that when the time comes for the tribulation you will lead us all to the sea of green were we all can live in the greater glory.

I am taking your advice and hiding the meds from them, as I agree it is poison as the man on the TV and radio said that as well.  I know the last time they tried to perform a lobotomy on me, and of course they denied it and if it was not for you and the keys, they would have been successful in their plot to destroy your great plan.

Great view from the inside, but I can hardly imagine how scary it must be to see the world like that.Your book should be a winner if it takes readers to that “other world”, where everything looks sinister and menacing. Thankfully, when the readers are done they can close the book and come back to reality; I wish it were the same for your brother.
