Solution Focused Therapy (Self-Hypnosis) Author Cathal O’Briain

Extract from "Powerful Mind through Self-Hypnosis" by Iternational Bestselling Author Cathal O’Briain.

Solution-focused therapy combines all the elements of natural self-healing. You have simply taken responsibility for your thoughts by making a conscious decision to change old negative beliefs into new positive ones, through imagination.

“Solution Focused therapy involves programming the ‘auto-pilot’ in the subconscious mind to achieve its destination and desired outcome.” Dr. Joseph E. Keaney

Solution-Focused Daily Plan (Basic)

Morning time:

Sit down and take 10, very slow, very deep breaths.

Take 10 more breaths only this time incorporating the suggestion, calm and relaxed, while you breathe with positive suggestion.

Now imagine your day as you wish it to unfold (process imagery).

Visualize yourself at different times throughout the day and keep these images positive and intentional.

Imagine what you are going to be doing at the end of the day (result imagery) and how you are going to look and feel.

Solution-Focused Daily Plan (Explained)

The breath is what helps to shake off sleep and can easily clear the mind after a long night of dreaming. On awakening from sleep we often drift into the day lacking in energy, carrying with us feelings that are only there because of the dreams we’ve had. After taking twenty deep breaths you feel alive and motivated, centered and focused. You feel refreshed, energized and as though you’ve not been asleep. This is when you should empower your subconscious with simple, effective suggestions such as, full of life, full of energy, sharp and focused, cool and confident, all in conjunction with the breath. Energy promoting suggestions can be implanted and felt within seconds. Say it, imagine it, believe it, and feel it. Now imagine how you want the day to unfold using process imagery. Visualize your desired intentions, exactly the way you want them to look in reality. See yourself in your mind’s eye at 10.00am, 12.00pm, 3.00pm, and 5.00pm and so on. If you are someone who gets stressed driving a car, imagine briefly that you are driving home in rush hour looking very relaxed behind the wheel. See yourself eating at the dinner table. And then imagine what the end of the day will look like. This is result imagery, the result being that you go to bed happy, acknowledging that you’ve had a wonderful day. Visualize yourself sleeping soundly that night. By pre-empting your day before it has actually unfolded you give your subconscious a preview of the future and how you desire it to look. Although your day may not always turn out exactly how you imagined, by actively imagining it before it has happened, you greatly increase the likelihood of living out your day the way you want. You shape reality instead of reality shaping you. It only takes ten minutes to do in the morning and is a routine well worth getting into. It’s you taking charge of mental health by giving yourself some gentle and relaxing treatments similar to getting a facial or having your back massaged. Only with matters of the mind, mental and physical care should be more ongoing and necessary.
