Stress Eating and Its Stressing Effects
Stress eating.
Stressed out? Well, keep your eyes off the screen and start taking action!
Oh wait, better finish this article and gather up some useful tips.
First and foremost, it’s not healthy to release stress in manners like showing anger, self afflicted injuries and worst of all, emotional/stress eating. That is because you will get even more stressed out once you see the pounds that has just seemed to magically appear without your knowing.
I remember once I have been a victim of uncontrollable emotional eating. I just kept grabbing and grabbing snacks and munching on them really fast, which,by the way, is not very healthy for when you chew food fast and swallow fast, the food has not been well processed. The larger the particles of food go down your digestive system, the harder for it to be processed therefore resulting to body fat. And to think I was the kind of person who has been so concerned on every calorie, emotional overload is just hard to deal with.
Stressing on emotional eating, why do we?
Probably because the easiest way to feel “high” is by eating chocolates or anything that has sugar. It has been scientifically proved that chocolates do make people happy. It is even prov-en to be an aphrodisiac just like oysters and such. Junk food is also one of what we call our comfort foods. Most likely because of the mono sodium glutamate it contains. MSG or mono sodium glutamate is an artificial flavor enhancer which, quite obviously, makes food taste better by heightening our tasting sense. So as the Pringles tag line goes, “Once you pop, you can’t stop”. One is never enough, thanks to MSG. Usually the unhealthy foods are the ones who use these kinds of artificial additives and though they might taste absolutely addicting, a small serving of this pack up thousands of calories.
Remember seeing those scenes on TV when someones being comforted by a parent or a friend, they would stay by the kitchen, grab a bowl of ice cream, and confront their issues?
That is emotional eating. You feel stressed, burdened and troubled and just cope with it by satisfying your taste buds, disregarding how many calories you take in or how it may affect your health. Sure, you finish a whole tub of ice cream because you say it helps you deal with your issues but that is not the only way you could. Excessive eating leads to obesity. Imagine if every time you get stressed by your nightly tasks, you eat to compensate, then you fall asleep right after. That makes matters much worse for when you sleep, you do not burn the calories you have just taken therefore resulting to fat.
Fast weight gain usually results to:
1. Obesity
2. Heart failures
3. Incapability to do physical activities
4. Getting tired easily
5. Easily getting tempered
6. Asthma
7. DEATH
8. So so much more
Just drop that bag of chips, start being progressive.
Take advantage of that jolt of stress right there and take it out through exercising, sports, writing your emotions down. There are much better ways to deal with emotional outbursts than realising stress in a way that will give you more stress in the long run.
