Tag Body Spray Ad Review

Description of Tag Ad concering a change in our culture as a paradigm shift.

The “Tag Body Spray for Men” advertisement portrays a family getting ready for Christmas, but unfortunately is distracted by the fact that the teenage girl of the family is passionately laying on top of her boyfriend. This ad demonstrates a paradigm shift from ladylike to “unladylike” in our culture concerning the tag line the ad uses, “The makers of tag body spray will not be held liable should your attraction to your tag wearing boyfriend cause you to engage in behavior that grandma may consider ‘unladylike’.” Now, the question is what exactly is ‘unladylike’ or just ladylike at all, nowadays? Is this only inappropriate for people of old age to see? Not to mention, the father depicted in the picture is covering his little son’s eyes so he will not see such a bad example. Considerately, this behavior is not suitable in such an environment, but we’re progressing to a society that does permit behavior like such. More and more do we see ‘public display of affection’ all around, in which sometimes people just can’t dare to say anything about, because apparently, things are changing, and being a ‘lady’ is not commonly seen. Equal right for both sexes have opened the door to equal behavior and treatment, whether it be a man or a woman; and what was then considered intolerable for women to do, is now tolerated.  As a matter of fact, we even see this now more frequently in the younger generations, rather than the older. Although some people do try to stop this, like for example, the dad covering up the little kid’s eyes, they don’t seem to do a very good job at protecting their children, because in the ad, you clearly see that the little boy is still watching what is going on. Because of this lack of protection, the younger generations have to bear with something they will soon become, whether this be for the good or for the bad, they’re more likely to be vulnerable and have no control over what they see and do. This paradigm shift from ladylike behavior to any kind of crude and sensual behavior to please to one’s self has changed our culture in its entirety indeed.
