The Holistic Psychological Profile

If we really want to evaluate other people’s intelligence we need a holistic approach.

The term intelligence is too wide and actually includes all types of intelligence that exist. In order to characterize a person the simple statement that he/she is intelligent is not enough. A psychological profile is much more accurate if it evaluates the types of intelligence that describe the assessed person.

For instance, let’s analyze a hypothetical Mr. Adam, who:

  • is an efficient businessman
  • is persuasive and intuitive
  • has a good command of English
  • controls himself very well
  • knows how to reason
  • is an atheist
  • smokes a lot
  • who is not at all interested in art – which is considered a waste of time
  • watches DVDs in his spare time.

The holistic psychological profile can describe more precisely Mr. Adam than just depicting him as being intelligent:

  • Being an efficient businessman he has a high financial IQ
  • As he doesn’t believe in God so that he doesn’t feel the need to give a spiritual meaning to his life
  • A good self control is a sign of his high emotional intelligence
  • Since he is persuasive he has a high communicational intelligence
  • Given that he dislikes art his artistic intelligence is low. However this doesn’t make him less creative because he is a successful businessman.
  • His organic or body intelligence is quite low because he smokes. .
