The Many Moods of Riley
Full analysis on my roommate and best friend, Riley.
In my life I have had one best friend who has been there with me from the beginning, and his name is Riley. Now when I say one best friend, I mean one best friend with multiple personalities ranging from Pot-head-philosophical Riley, to Best Friend Mode Riley. The Behaviors of each individual Riley come out depending on what mood he is in that day. His moods always switch every week, and each week is a different palette of moods.
Ever since I can remember being his friend, Riley has always had something to say about anything, and this was especially true during his pot-head-philosophical mood. Now, there are a couple things to look for when Riley is in this mood. Number one: Riley will often stare blankly into space during this time. Number two: The phrases “Dude,” “Man,” and “You know?” will always come up in a sentence. Number three: Riley will always use his hands to demonstrate his point in this topic.
When Riley is in the “pot-head-philosophical” stage, he now considers himself to be the great and power philosopher Niche. While in this stage, Riley thinks that he has an answer to every single problem any human has faced. Riley will approach me at random times, even if I didn’t strike up a conversation and give me advice, “Just don’t do it man, streaking in public just isn’t a smart idea in the first place you know?” (Riley on streaking) As much trouble I give this guy for being strange, I also thank him for the advice. Every piece of advice Riley has given me has helped me in my life one way or another, not because I listened to it, but because it cheers me up in a way that no one could understand. Even our friend Andrew was helped by Riley’s philosophies from time to time. Andrew said that he takes Riley’s philosophies as a sort of sponge. He absorbs everything Riley gives him, and finds uses to help him in the long run of life. “I take it more like he is teaching me how to understand myself.” (Andrew on Riley’s Philosophies.)
As much fun as he is when he is philosophical, I like Riley best when he is in his “best friend” mood. As rare of a case this mood is, it is my favorite mood from Riley. In best friend mode, Riley will be able to help me out in the worst of situations. What happens in the mood of his is Riley now understands what is going on in my life, and he is willing to go to any length to try and make it better for me. No matter what the problem was in my life, he would be there right next to me every time, but in the “best friend” mood, he is much more helpful in my dilemma.
