The Many Moods of Riley
Full analysis on my roommate and best friend, Riley.
Whether my problem was a relationship break up, family troubles, or just me feeling really bad about something, Riley would somehow magically find his way by my side to help. I would stumble my way out of the last class of the day in high school after a long day of a single thought that would go through my head that whole day, Riley could immediately tell that this thought was a bad one, and it was just eating me up inside. He would sense the distress, and jump in to action, running down hallways, pushing people over, and jumping over different obstacles just to find him in an open space that appeared right next to me. After he heroic efforts to get to my side, Riley then always says the exact right words to make me feel better about the stressful thought.
Riley’s moods all just depend on one thing, his stomach. Now when Riley’s stomach starts growling, this means he wants two things: food and time to hang out and do absolutely nothing, this mood is Riley’s “hey I’m hungry so I want to come over to your house for some food.” When in this mood, Riley will walk up to me and ask if its alright to come over to my house to hang out and pig out on cheese-its and mountain dew. Whenever Riley comes over to my house in this mood, we always will just grab the closest box of goodies, sit down in my game room and play halo or watch a couple movies for the rest of the day. This mood always helped me just relax and take things slower which always makes me feel in much better moods myself. Evan Carpenter, another one of my good friends, said that Riley once came over to his dorm room for some noodles, I asked Evan if he stayed there to hang out and he said, “Well yeah, but he was eating my noodles,” which is just Riley wanting to hang out, and eat.
The only time I have seen a mood of Riley’s and not liked it is when he is in his depressed and In need mood. While Riley’s moods make me happy or annoyed, I can’t stand to see him in this mood because of how depressing it makes me feel. This mood, as rare as it may be, is the worst mood he could be in. Riley will not make himself present to me, so I have to go to him and find out what is wrong. This mood is like the reverse of the “best friend” mood. After tracking Riley down, I see that he is in a great deal of pain, but as best friends, once I get there, Riley knows I don’t need to say a word, and he gets it. I always help him in his times of need because he is always there in my times of need.
Multiple best friends is always nice to have, but having one best friend always will take the cake. That one best friend will always be there for you, whether its to give you some really strange advice on life, to eat all your food, to relax with you and to help you out, they will always be there. Riley is and always has been my best friend, and I am grateful to have him by my side through the good and bad times.
