The Necessary Surviving Skills

As a student, education is vital. Yet, beyond academic level, there are necessary skills that students ought to possess for life in society.

Self-motivation is also another element of emotional intelligence. The young citizens should develop optimism in themselves to motivate themselves that they can do well in their work. This is how their positive attitude of D.W.I.T and perseverance compliment their optimism, creating a sense of contribution in themselves. For instance, they can visualize success of a project they are working on and work towards it before the deadline. This in turn, lead to successful completion of a sense of satisfaction in their project.

Relationship skill is also involved in E.Q, the ability to interact and connect with others in positive ways. I would say that this is the vital skill in every field that we are going to embark on. The young citizens are encouraged to develop communication skills. This is how we would get the opportunity to express ourselves, motivate others and communicate a vision are all relationship skill that increase success in life. At the workplace, to keep an organization functioning well, there is always good relationship to be developed among the employees and subordinates with the superiors. When the relationship established, collective responsibility and cooperation among the workers can be reached, taking the company into the future.

However, as I mentioned earlier, education still plays a vital role for the young citizens for life in society. In school, we are also taught and given knowledge by teachers of Mathematical skill. This is useful especially for who want to be an accountant to do balance sheet for the company. Besides, in school we also have Moral subject that teaches us moral values such as honesty, diligent and bravery to dare speak our minds to form positive character in us, and give positive effect in future life as an adult who can be trusted with responsibility in times of need. This eventually will benefit for our career advancement. Apart from that, outside the class, we have extra-curricular activity where we are allowed to take part in organizations and school clubs to practice organizing others. This encourages us to take leadership role such as captain of a club to organize functions like planning a party. The leadership and organization skills are important soft skills, which are useful to us when we conduct a meeting for a company in society in our capacity as a marketable employee.

As a whole, I would not wholeheartedly agree that education is necessary to prepare the young for life in society. This is because beyond the scroll certificate of academic performance in the working society, there are other perspectives, too, that most of the employers are looking for in his employees. It is the vital tool to fulfill the niche and that is emotional quotient (E.Q).
