The Psychology of Eating Habits

My topic is mainly talking about emotional eaters and it tells you what bring on eating this way.

Most people at one time or another turn to food to soothe their feeling. In fact,

emotional eating is so common that many people consider it unavoidable and normal.

The red flag for emotional eating is when  you eat in response to a mood rather than in

response to hunger. The former fuels the feelings; the latter fuels the body. There is nothing

wrong with an occasional snack to calm you down or make you feel better.Somehow life seems

less depressing when we are satiated with cookies and ice cream, left over turkey, corn chips and dip,

or a dish of rich chocolate pudding. You have a problem, however, when emotional eating leads to compulsive eating,

obesity, malnutrition,or other health issues. It also is a problemif it is used  as a way to deal wit emotions or to

escape negative feelings, covering u underlying problems that should be addressed.

Anxiety, wories, tension, upset feelings, stress, andfear are common causes of emotional eating.

Food becomes the tranquilizer that calms the nerves and soothes anxiety. The anxiety is caused by

anticipation of an event, such as having to give  a presentation, or a thought, such as ” I can’t do this’.”

In either case ,the result is that you turn to food to soothe yourself.Or it might  be that turning to food during times

of stress is a learned response:The bigger the assignment, the higher the demands ,the more likely you are to eat.
