Understanding Lucid Dreaming Techniques

Understanding Lucid Dreaming Techniques.

Most people relate sleeping to a period of unconsciousness where you are not in control of your thoughts or body. Yet, there is something called lucid dreaming where you are fully aware of being in a dream state and can control what you dream about. Depending on whether you experience high or low lucidity, you may have more or less control.

Low lucidity level dreaming is different because they are aware on some level that they are dreaming but there is no knowledge that it will end soon or that they will wake up after.

High level lucidity is when the dreamer has full awareness. He knows that he is dreaming and knows that he’ll wake up soon.

If you want to train your mind so you can be in control of your dreams, a lot of fun is in store for you.

There are various techniques to induce lucid dreaming. Some of these are discussed hereafter. But there are a few things which you must know about and do prior to adopting any of these techniques.

First, it is important not to eat anything before going to bed because your mind will focus less on your dreams and more on what you’re digesting.

Secondly, before you embark on your attempt towards lucid dreaming, remember to avoid alcohol or medication that would make dream recall difficult.

Third, as you go to bed take the time to relax your body and mind, shake off the remaining thoughts from the day, and tell yourself that you need to remember all of your dreams, whether they are good or bad.

Don’t get up from the bed in a jolt when you wake up. You must lie down in your bed, keep your eyes closed and think about your dream trying to remember as much of it as possible. Make a dream journal where you would write down y our dreams in detail as this will be of immense help in your lucid dreaming attempts.

One technique to train your mind for lucid dreams is to perform “reality checks” frequently. This is a simple strategy where you check if you are dreaming or experiencing something in your real life.

To do this you simply try to do something that would not be possible in every day life, such as walking through a wall or flying. If you can do these things then you know it is a dream and are aware of your dream state. Keep doing reality checks every night and you will start to have lucid dreams.

The second technique is known as MILD. This is where one realizes that he is falling asleep and needs to recover from the sleep. It helps in recognizing dreams and interpretation of signs for better control. A great way for working out this technique is to set the alarm clock for about 5 hours of continuous sleep.

Usually the clock is set for about five hours. You need to awake your self for one hour then and try to recall all that you did in your lucid dreaming. Then lie down and go back to sleep. When you do this, you teach your body to take advantage of what is known as REM sleep, the sleep that is most often producing dreaming. Learn the MILD technique and your lucid dreaming will be easier.

The last and most important technique that you will learn is called the Ace technique. You will use what are called lucid dreaming aides, known as binaural beats that are played into each ear in order to help your body to learn how to lucid dream. You focus on these beat and train your brain.

Keep the headphone and binaural beat recordings close at hand and set your alarm in a way which gives you about 6 hours of sleep. After 6 hours, when the alarm rings, get up and walk about for 10 minutes or write in your dream journal.

Avoid watching television while you wake your mind up. After 10 minutes have gone by, put your headphone back to play the binaural beats focusing on the sounds. Keep repeating the constant affirmations that you really need to lucid dream while you are falling asleep. This induces fast lucidity.

Once you start having lucid dreams, make sure to have some fun with it. Jump off a few tall buildings and take to flight. Do things you would never get to do during everyday life.

Thus, all the above mentioned methods and techniques if practiced will enable you to induce lucid dreaming successfully whenever you desire.
