Various Perspectives in Counselling
The Following is just a few examples of my work taken from various areas covering my EDEXCEL HNC (Higher National Certificate In Counselling Skills).
Course Unit 2 –Theoretical Perspectives In Counselling.
Person-Centred Approach In Counselling.
The founder of this therapy Carl Rogers said, “The relationship between counsellor and client in the ‘here and now’ is all important. Milne, A. (1999) Teach Yourself Counselling. Hodder and Stoughton Publishers, (Education), England.
The Psychodynamic Approach in Counselling.
As Counsellor, I could have used this psychodynamic approach with my client in relation to her dreaming about her dead baby. This fits into Freud’s belief that the human psyche (mind) has 3 areas of mental process (thinking).
The Conscious Pre-conscious Un-Conscious-
Her words and thoughts about loosing her baby were too dreadful and painful to deal with during her waking hours, but by her dreaming about him/her, her mind was trying to cope with all the issues and emotions involved, for “the interpretation of dreams is another technique employed in bringing unconscious material into consciousness”.
