You May Need a Therapist: A Four Step Checklist
There are many reasons you may want to engage a therapist, here are a list of the five most routine reasons for doing so!
1) You need to talk
Some people engage a counselor, simply because they need to talk. They need to get issues off their chest, and who better to talk to than someone who has been trained to listen compassionately to your words, right?
2) You Need Closure
Sometimes, you just need some resolution in your life. Maybe you’re grieving, or maybe it’s just something that you can’t tell anyone but really bugs you. Perhaps, you just want to settle some issue in your life and you want to know that it’s OK, and you’re OK, but you’ve got psychological barriers getting in the way. Do yourself a favor, engage a therapist!
3) You’re Transitioning
It’s normal that if you’re getting married or divorced, dealing with births or deaths that you will feel out of your depth. It’s normal and it’s common to the human experience. You may feel uncomfortable like there is something wrong with you, but the truth is, you’re in a period of transition, and sometimes, you really need someone who can help you! Therapists can do this.
4) You Need a Non-Judgmental Ear
Most people, with their friends, they will be judgmental, because it’s ordinary and normal, but, with some issues in your life, you really don’t need judgments and opinions. You need someone professional to help and assist you. That’s what a counselor does for you.
5) You Realize Your Life is Worth More
It’s not worth it just to waste your life thinking of what could have been, thinking about what you’re missing in life and thinking that you’ll never be healthy. It’s now an epidemic to have depression. It’s usual but not normal. You can get help. Even if you have low self esteem, this can really hinder your life progress.
So, whether you’re dealing with a transition in your life, or something like stress or low self esteem, or if you have a major issue that you need to resolve, then why not engage a counselor today to get on the road to where you want to be?
