31 Guiding Principles for Effective Dating

1 Young people within the age bracket of 13-18 should not engage yet in individual date, group date is recommended. Here they could devote their time to discuss issue relating to their future ambition, exchange ideas, and get to know themselves better.

2 Dating is not about hopping into bed for sex, but about developing and building relationship that could possibly lead to marriage. Heb 13:4 says; marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.

3 As a Christian, do not date an unbeliever.” Then believer, as this will likely undermine your faith. It said that “birds of a feather flock together bible say; “do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness”? (II Corinthians 6:14)

4 Always remember that the key activity in a date is talking or communication. This is important; communication is key to building strong relationship. It will also reveal your compatibility or otherwise.

5 Do not forget to place God at the center of your relationship. This will help protect you from any danger of ungodly attitude. Be conscious of God and allow him to guide your relationship, if you do this you will not make mistakes.

6 Do not live dangerously! Always make sure you choose a wholesome, non-threatening environment for your meetings. Keep away from dangerous places, the hotel room, nightclub, a friend’s apartment or any other place that is secluded from public access.

7 Avoid keeping late nights. The night is synonymous with darkness, and darkness symbolizes wickedness, and all kind of evil. You are a child of light. Eph 5:8-12 says: for you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consist in all goodness, righteousness an truth) and fine our what pleases the Lord. 8 Avoid staying together in dark place at night.

9 Be careful where you go, night clubs, disco hall bars wild parties should be avoided .

10 Resist the temptation of touching intimate and sensitive part of your body.

11 Do not sleep in the same place under any circumstance.

12 No kissing, petting or touching at this stage.
