A Beginner’s Guide to a Healthy Relationship

This is a little guide to help beginners establish a healthy, relationship.

Everyone thinks about having a relationship one of these days in their lives. Its an idea that
doesn’t go unnoticed. We think, wow I wish I had a boyfriend or girlfriend. But, see that’s the
wrong approach. Here let me go more in depth of what I am talking about.

Basis of a relationship

Think. What is the basis to a relationship that is happy, stable, and prosperous? Friendship is the
key to any relationship because friendship is where you can start to earn trust, respect, and also
give trust and respect. You can’t just jump and say that you want to have a lasting relationship
right off the bat. You have to grow with that person, learn with them, and trust them. Once you
have established a lasting friendship, then you can talk about moving onward to the next level.

Communication

Yup. This is the big one. Communication is the most important aspect in any relationship.
Without communication you will go nowhere. Communication is not just listening to the other
person, but understanding them. You may not know what they are saying, so ask them. If you
establish communication, then you will understand and also be understood. When the other
person sees that you are making an effort to understand them and communicate with them, they
will too follow suit.

Understanding the female’s mind vs. the male’s mind

This is probably the most difficult part of any relationship; understanding how each other thinks.
We were born to have different minds and we are really not supposed to understand how each
other’s mind works. But it is always good to try. Because the male and female are built so
differently, one may think something totally different from what the other person said or vice
versa. Again, the key to figuring this out is, when you first establish a friendship with them,
learn as much as you can about them, their strengths, weaknesses, likes, dislikes, etc. This will
give you a basis on how to actually foresee what the other is thinking. Not literally, but you will
have a good idea. The other option is to ask them these types of questions so you are not stuck
saying, “Well I didn’t know that about you.”

Outcome

The outcome of this little tutorial is to basically establish a foundation for a relationship. This is
not in depth, but I might right a second article on a more in depth approach to relationships soon.
Anyhow, these guidelines will help a person establish trust, respect, communication, and all the
necessary tools to create a lasting relationship.
