Arranged Marriage?
In some countries, marriages are arranged by the parents but in other cases, people choose their own marriage partner.
The matter of marriage arrangement has long appealed to a great deal of controversies as different people entertain dissimilar opinions. While some hold a strong belief that parents are most responsible for this task, others show great interest in the rights to get their own partner. The purpose of this piece of writing is to thoroughly discuss this tendency from both sides.
In the first place, parents play a great role in orientating their children’s matrimony for several reasons. Initially, thanks to their experience in family’s life, parents tend to make a stable match. Their decision is based on various dimensions of suitability, such as knowledge, wealth or even appearance. Due to that fact, their choice is much more dependable than just a whim of the children. For example, our grandparents’ marriage was also put under the request of the previous generation, but they all lived happily together. In addition, parents tend to do the best for their children. They hold the deepest understanding about their kids’ personality as well as interests, thus they know which partner will be most suitable. More importantly, parents are likely to form objective opinions as they are not affected by strong affection and emotions like the youngsters. Beyond any doubt, parents are the indispensable judges in forming the youngsters’ marriage.
On the other hand, it is the right of the youngsters to choose a lifelong partner of their own. To start with, the act of getting married on one’s own makes him independent. As a matter of fact, marriage is the most important in his life and it needs careful planning. Thus, once a youngster shows a desire to get married, he or she has to prepare everything in advance, ranging from getting a stable job to find an accommodation. These tasks train the immature ones to become self-regulating, which is of huge benefits for their family’s life. Furthermore, love marriage is bound to promote the peaceful atmosphere in family. Knowing the spouse well before marriage provides partners with better understanding and respect to each other’s needs and desires. As a result, they can adjust their behaviors suitably during family’s life, which is of great help for its coziness. Needless to say, independence and the potential peacefulness of the family’s life are the major reasons for the youngsters’ desire to get their own partner.
In a word, both love marriage and arranged marriage have their own pros and cons. It is highly recommended that one should reconcile between their own choice and their parents’ advice in order to choose the most suitable lifelong partner.
