Arranged Marriages or Love Marriages, Which Last Longer?

This love is present in people who get married after being in love. Some people may say that there are more cases of divorce in the case of love marriages but many of these cases are not really love marriages. Many people can not differentiate between love and infatuation. This is more common among young people who think the infatuation is love and proceed for marriages. In such cases, problems arise after few days or months.

A teenage guy liking a girl by seeing her beauty and falling in love with her is pure infatuation. Love sparkles only when the hearts meet and this has nothing to do with external beauty. Many people whom we think have got ‘love married’ might have got married after thinking that the infatuation between them is love. When they open up after marriage, they may find that the person they know is not the same person they are seeing now. This leads to problems and makes the marriage seem to be on rocks.

In the case of true love, this problem doesn’t arise. The couple know each other very well even before the marriage from their heart. This makes them accept even the mistakes of each other. If they don’t like the nature of each other, they would break up even before marriage. Once they are married, they know the nature of each other and act accordingly. The love sems to be less in this case though there are cases of people loving each other very much in arranged marriages too.

I don’t mean that the arranged marriages don’t last longer. In fact, many people I know got arranged marriages and they are living happily for years. But I somehow feel the love ,which I see in the case of couple who got love married, missing in these people. Though they are very happy with each other and love the fact that they are married, I somehow feel the arranged marriage system is mechanical. They are married and so accept the fact that they are married and this forces them to depend on each other and to try to love each other. In the case of arranged marriages, the liberty and lenience is a bit less when compared to that of people who are married after being in love.

I feel that both the arranged marriages and (true) love marriages last long but the love between the couple is more in the case of love marriages than arranged marriages. In any case, the love between the couple is the main factor for a long lasting married life.
