Cheating in Our Relationship
Studies done by the Karolinska Institute in Sweden have found that guys who lack a particular variant of a gene influencing brain activity have less aptitude for remaining monogamous.
Scientists discovered that the presence of the variant gene (found in 40 per cent of guys) allowed them to be able to predict who amongst their study subjects would be seen as emotionally close and available or distant and disagreeable by their partners. The existence of the gene may also be able to foretell which men will get married, and which won’t.
The discovery of the so-called “cheating gene” has sparked a debate as to whether genetic testing should be used to see if potential mates are bad marriage prospects. Just imagine being able to find out whether your partner is likely to stray or not just from a blood sample?
Would certain guys become pariahs simply because they might be genetically predisposed to cheat? And, most importantly, who would end up on the covers of NW if Sienna could see her romantic future ahead of time?
