Creative Dating in Colorado 2
An ongoing series of ideas to bust the boredom of “dinner and a movie” in the Denver Metro area. This time, considering “outdoorsy” approaches to dating.
Though dining out and seeing a film is a common approach to dating, there are much more interesting ways to go about spending some time with your significant other. Whether your relationship is budding or long-standing doing something out of the ordinary to shake up the dating routine will be appreciated as a sign of care and interest. From the adventurous to the tame, check out the following as alternate approaches to The Date.
Installment #2 considers “outdoorsy” approaches to dating.
Make it an adventure!
There is no reason a date has to be strictly romantic and, in fact, adding a touch of adrenalin to the dating process could have phenomenal results. Colorado is the perfect state in which to take on many of these “adventures in dating” so take a look at this list then get creative.
Consider the following options depending on your degree of risk-taking willingness:
Picnicking. A simple but effectively different approach to dining with your date, picnicking opens up options for getting out of the norm. Food choices alone allow you to be creative and skip the typical fast food or overpriced restaurant dining fallbacks. For an easygoing date in the sun, choose fried chicken, potato salad, and fresh fruit, all of which can be prepared at home or purchased pre-prepared and served cold. To attain a higher level of culinary delight, choose a loaf of great bread, some brie, gazpacho, and an assortment of smoked meats. Tailor the meal to suit both the tastes of the picnickers and the setting.
Any park, close to or far from your home, can be the site for your outdoor meal. To take it up a notch, consider making a mini-road trip out of the event and don’t plan your lunch location in advance. Pick a direction and drive until an exit catches or side-road catches your eye. Bring a camera and use the drive itself as a way to spend time together discussing the sights along the way. If that approach doesn’t suit you, www.insiderpages.com and www.denvergov.org are two good sites that can help you determine parks and picnic sites in advance.
Skydiving
Though there are many outlets in our fair state that offer this experience, www.mile-hi-skydiving.com/ may be the best known. Consider an afternoon of training and briefing followed by a freefall and parachute glide as the New Date Option. Pricey compared to dinner and a movie but think of all the conversation it will spark for years to come!
Bonding with wildlife
The third suggestion in this installment falls somewhere between the first two with regard to degree of adventure. A lovely drive through Ft. Collins into the small town of Bellvue will not only take your breath away with the scenery but will land you at Colorado’s own wolf sanctuary. WOLF is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing, caring for, and improving the life of wolves and wolf-dog hybrids. A visit to the sanctuary to meet the animals can be arranged by visiting this site
