Dating on Craigslist

Introduction to using Craigslist to find date.

Welcome to cyber dating. It is fun but there are pitfalls as well as joys. I would like to take you on a tour using Craigslist as our tool into this wonderful world of internet dating.

So you want to get out there? You just can’t seem to meet anyone in your day to day life. You have heard some good stories and then some horror stories about online dating but you want to give it a try. I suggest start with Craigslist. It is easy, assessable and free. You may either place your own ad or peruse personal ads in the privacy and safety of your home. Truly, there is something wonderful and magical about sitting in your chair at home and enjoying the posts. There are so many ads that have photos. It is fun to sit like a queen or a king and as you go through them saying, “Yeah or Nay.” No one gets hurt. No one knows whom you have rejected or accepted. You are in complete control.

My advice to get you started is to ask yourself what kind of relationship, person, and gender are you looking for. In other words, what or who is your dream date? Shoot for the stars. Why not? This is cyber dating: There is no one judging, criticizing or telling you to be realistic. Again, I state shoot for the stars. Later, down the road, if the choosing is tough;there is always readjusting or as they say, lowering the bar. Now, that you have decided what/who you want…it is time to go hunting.

There are categories to get you started in the personals and these will help lead you to your dream date. You will need to choose the gender and the type of relationship you are looking for. Are you looking for a long term relationship(ltr) or just casual, or platonic?

So, after all of that choosing…now, what is the age range you would date and what location? After defining that, it is time to have fun.

So, there you are behind the computer, looking and looking and finally you have found the right person. You have read his or her post, and like it. If you are lucky, there is already a photo. Now, what do you do? It is time to respond. A short but descriptive answer with a photo is always best. Long drawn out replies are tedious to the person you are trying to attract back. Who knows? He/she may have received tons of replies and will no doubt be feeling overwhelmed, flattered, and confused as to which person to respond to. A quick to the point reply with a photo will be your best bet. Plus, there is no need to throw yourself at him or her…begging to be noticed. If it is meant to be, it will happen.
