Dating Tips: Do’s and Don’ts
For those of you who struggle while on dates, here are some tips to make your future dates successful.
Dating isn’t easy, that is for sure. First dates are nerve-racking and awkward and the dates the follow present us with hundreds of opportunities for mistakes, blunders, and missteps. We may call too often or not enough, we wear t-shirts to fancy restaurants, or laugh at our own bad jokes. Dating is a game and just like any game, there are rules. Study them, remember them, and apply them, so next time you will feel immune to bad date.
The Don’ts:
- Do not call, text, or email someone more than once a day, especially if you only recently started dating.
- Don’t be late on your date. It’s rude.
- Don’t lie, that will only dig you a hole that will ruin the relationship later down the road.
- Don’t give away too much about yourself in the beginning. Be mysterious, everyone likes a good mystery.
- Don’t get drunk or be rude on a date. Manners is everything.
- Don’t date the kind of people that have hurt you in the past.
- Don’t have sex on the first date. Even if your partner is willing, you don’t want to look easy or overly anxious.
- Don’t date a married person. That never ends well.
The Do’s:
- Always try to look your best
- Be punctual
- Try to enjoy your self on your dates. You will be more enjoyable to be around.
- If you’re not interested in seeing someone again, tell them directly.
- Surround yourself with likeminded people.
- Plan ahead. Be creative when planning your dates.
- Be interesting, but don’t lie. If you’re not interesting, make your self interesting.
- Only date people you are attracted too. Don’t date someone unless you truly like them.
