Some couples find it possible to live together and are unable to maintain their relationship. Therefore, they choose divorce. The problem of finance is one of the biggest causes of divorce. Man creates a stable financial foundation. Some husbands do not have high paying job that creates a secure financial situation for their families. In such situation, a man can not meet the needs of his family. Finding a good balance between work, family and personal is also cause of divorce. When husband comes home from work, he might be too tired to spend his time with his family. The reason of every marriage break down is not the same. Some of the reasons may be adultery, disloyalty, lack of communication, unreasonable behavior of a person and addiction.

The impact of divorce on children differs from family to family. Divorce has an extremely bad effect on children. It affects children emotionally and mentally. If the couple has no children, then it would not affect husband and wife. They themselves agree to live separately. But if the couple has children then it affects the child’s life and career. Children are very sensitive and divorce leaves a child stressed. The psychologist Judith Wallerstein points out “The emotional complications are common among adult children of divorces parents”. It depends on the age and mentality of the child. Some children understand at a very early age, some might find it difficult to handle and some might deal with it by wanting to be alone.

Paul Amato indicates that there are different types of risks that may contribute to the difficulties of children. Family is the major determining factor for a person’s happiness and successful life. Divorce has negative impact on child and the life of the grand child. Usually children expect to live together with their parents. Divorce often results in the loss of important part of relationship and human development that provides a loving and nurturing environment. Many parents do not realize that divorce scars children for life. The economic resources of children living in intact families are better than the children living in single parent families. Such children grow up with lasting psychological damage. The family unit lays the foundation for a child’s future. Divorce has a negative impact on the child’s self esteem. Children are confused and frightened by the threat to their security. They usually find it harder to deal with personal relationship. Children from divorced families do not progress well in school. They have lack of confidence. Research has proved that drug abuse is higher in divorced home than for those in an intact family structure.       

The loss of family unit causes the children to grieve because no child wants to grow up with just one parent. Children are really affected by divorce when they are at the age to actually understand what is going on.  To resolve the issues in the marriages, the decision to divorce must be made after careful thought.
