Divorce: Is There an Afterlife?
So now you are divorced and back to square one. What to do next? How do you pick up the pieces and move on.
They say divorce is like death. Death of a loved one, death of your own life in many ways.
So how do you overcome the Death of your divorce, how do you pick up and move on?
First of all every divorce has its own issues. Many are divorces that end badly and some end not so badly but all in all it is a death. I am slowly recovering and finding my ways to do so.
Being single in a strange city in my mid 30s with 2 small children is no small feat.
It is one that has dragged me through the dangers of substance abuse to bring me back again to a life that is my own. A life that I am building as a strong single mother with a little help from my friends.
You can read the self-help books, go see a counselor; self medicate, talk to friends with common issues or just ponder on your own on how to regain your strength.
The top five things to remember about divorce are as follows…
- 1. It is no one’s fault… I mean NO ONE’S FAULT
- 2. Don’t dwell on what could have been, forget the past
- 3. Move on no matter what, no matter what
- 4. If things are at their worse they can only get better!
- 5. And… LOVE YOURSELF!
Get things off your chest. Even if you have to write it down rather then tell someone. Writing has become my salvation. It lets it all out right in front of me in black and white and when I do this it is a release. A release that I hope helps others. This is why I am sharing my darkest moments.
We all have the strength in us to survive amongst the hardest times. It is tapping into that strength and working it. It is not letting anyone or anything bring you down. We all have our issues and we all have our skeletons that come out at night. Tackle those demons and don’t go down without a fight. Remember to look at your reflection on a daily basis and smile at yourself. Smile cause you are alive, smile that you know things will get better. Have FAITH!
Faith is something you feel and must believe in for it to work its magic. Tell yourself what you want in life. Whether it is to love again, be wealthy, be healthy whatever just believe you can do it. Believe and Faith will come naturally!
