Does Being in a Relationship Define Who We Are?

Everyone wants to be accepted and loved, but to what extent.

Does that mean we are willing to take and accept anything that comes our way because we want that title of being someone’s wife?  Not being in a relationship does not define who we are, you can be happy by being alone.  Many people choose to be single because they are not ready for that commitment and they enjoy their freedom. Others love being in a solid committed relationship because they love the companionship and the fact that they have someone to call their own.

But in fact some relationships are just fine by staying in the “friends” status.  These arrangements are seen often with each other, but they do not have that label attached of “boyfriend or girlfriend”.  This is also a safety status, their is no commitment to each other and no expectations from one another as well.  Relationships do not define us period, regardless how we choose to live our lives being with someone does not make us who we are.  Being alone will not make a person incomplete either.

Wanting to be in a relationship has to be what both persons involved want.  Being in one for show or for your family when both partners are miserable is not why a couple should stay together.  Being in a relationship to the extent of giving up one’s happiness is not worth the time.  So remember do not let being in a relationship define who you are to be accepted.
