Empty Pockets Full of Love
Who should pay on the date: guys or girls?
From the beginning of time, Man has always provided the meat.
Take the caveman, for example – big, strong, handsome, always hunting, always on his feet. He conquers for the woman.
Why does he go through all that effort? Because he wants to win his lady’s heart.
I wonder, though, if it isn’t time to start sharing the responsibility. Will winning the lady’s heart still be possible?
To have one person in a relationship pay for everything is not what guys are after, but a compromise between the two is always helpful.
Girls: You are beautiful, smart, funny people, and you may have one particular characteristic that drives our hearts to our throats. But, for some guys, it is the scariest thing in the world to walk up to girls they completely adore and ask them for dates.
First there is transportation, as many guys either don’t own a car, or it doesn’t run.
What about rejection? No one likes to be shut down, especially by a beautiful girl who is hanging around all her friends.
But the biggest impediment? Money stress. Many guys can’t ask girls on dates because of financial issues; they feel that they must pay for the entire night, resulting in empty pockets.
So ladies: When a guy asks you out, offer to pay your share. He can choose to say no, but it would be a nice gesture, especially if you like him.
For those of you already going out, try splitting the cost between you and your significant other. Perhaps he pays for dinner one night; the next dinner, you pay.
Take turns driving each other, or perhaps give the driver gas money.
To have a healthy, stress-free relationship, compromising in a country of capitalism is a must.
Guys: Be understanding, and stay true to gentlemanly ways. Not every couple can see a movie and eat out every weekend. So get creative! Cook dinner together, rent or watch an old movie, and perhaps persuade her to play some Halo with you. Being a gentlemen and considerate to your lovely lady will pay off in the long run when you are broke, and she has to pay for the grub.
It’s about getting to know the other person, having fun, creating memories, and secrets, sharing inside jokes and having someone you trust.
