Fancy-Free

We are all single or at least we all were at some point. If the single life was awesome then why do we continue to look for a date? Check it out…

The screen name said Kylegallian and he was a little older. He began to talk to me and we ended up talking until 5 am. And just like that I was hooked on talking to Kyle just like I was hooked on posting my column on myspace now. It went on throughout the summer until I had to go back to school. Then, I knew that I had to end it with Kyle for it would never work out. We were from two different worlds (more like states) and he wanted a one nighter and I wanted true love. You know what I’m talking about, the kind of love that is ridiculous, fun, can’t break up with them kind of love.

Upon leaving Kyle, I kept thinking if he was my ideal soul mate. I know that it is ridiculous but it could happen right? As time went on I forgot about what almost happened with Kyle, which was one of those long-distance relationships. Now, I begin to think that being single is fabulous but that doesn’t mean that once I meet Mr. right that I’m not going to let love pass me by. It does feel that I may be young and inexperienced with relationships but being single has two things that being with someone doesn’t. It is what Carrie Bradshaw once said, “Now that Aidan moved in I’m afraid to practice my SSB…you know, my secret single behavior”. Honestly, who can say that they are in a relationship and they tell their boyfriend/girlfriend their single behavior.

I know that you probably haven’t told your boyfriend/girlfriend because if you did, they would probably think that you are weird. The second thing that singles can do that couples can’t do is be there for their friends. This is actually a proven fact if you think about it. A woman/man who is dating is constantly on the phone or going to places that they don’t want to because their significant other wants them to accompany them.  Whereas, if you were single and one of your friends needed you, you’d be there in a heartbeat. Therefore, I have concluded that although being single is a good thing, if the right guy came along, yours truly would definitely start dating and give it a shot. Not like it would ever happen but I’m just saying. Therefore, enjoy being a Fancy-Free while there is still time.
