Five Things Every Guy Should Know Before Walking Down the Isle
Some critical thinking points on what every guy should consider before and leading up to saying his vows of marriage.
Here comes the Bride, all dressed in white… So you’re taking the plunge are you? Are congratulations in order, or condolences?
All kidding aside, the choice you’ve made to become the lesser half of the greatest partnership you’ll ever know, likely isn’t one you’ve come to lightly. In front of your friends, the guys, your buds, your chums, or whatever they are to you, you’ll endure the ribbing, the end of your life comments, the screaming plea: “what are you doing man!” You’ll put up the façade and pretend like it’s all in good fun, but I know…I know the truth.
You love her and that’s all there is to it. So let’s talk about a few things you should know before you find yourself nursing a world class hangover while stuffed into a poorly fitted tux, and are standing in front of a congregation of people, most of whom you haven’t the faintest idea who they’re related to, even though they sit on your side. Before you find yourself staring into the monumentally disappointed eyes of your betrothed as she begins her entrance and walks slowly up the isle, finally resigning herself to the idea that you’re the one she’s marrying.
Among the plethora of details and requirements involved in planning that perfect wedding, there are some things that fall squarely on the shoulders of the groom-to-be. Not the least of which is selecting your side of the wedding party.

Selecting the best man for the Best Man job
Contrary to the opinion of many young men, the Best Man and Groomsmen have some serious responsibility on the day of the wedding, not to mention the hefty roles they need to play in the planning before hand. They’re role is NOT one of enabling the biggest drink-fest known to man on the night before the nuptials, they’re role is NOT to antagonise the bride, her attendants or her Mother, and most definitely, their role is NOT to make jokes and act like fools in front of the most important people in your life.
Does any of the above sound like the typical behaviour of your inner circle of friends?
Possibly the most important choice you’ll make through this process, beyond choosing to pop the question, is selecting your Groomsmen. I say this because choosing wisely can save you a ton of stress later on.
